I continue Ihunke’s words.
He planned to do an exhibition in April in a mountain village in Iwate prefecture, where he lived for twenty years. It should be an exhibition to symbolize his new start. He should give up to do it as he planned. Continue reading
Personal letter from Japan

Dear Friends,
Some of you may remember the doll of attached photo. It is Ifunke’s work, which I introduced on Doll Forum Japan in 1998. Once his doll was a souvenir doll of JADE at UFDC convention in USA. I did not know he moved to Ishinomaki-shi in Miyagi pref, where was one of the worst area in this catastrophe.
Just two days ago I heard that he was swallowed by tsunami and saved his life to climb up and stay on a roof for two days. In such a cold weather…So I got his mobile number and called him a few hours ago. He was surprised at my call after some years, but told he was very happy to hear from me. He divorced and his two young children (8 yrs and 10 yrs-old) were looked after by his grandmother at his parents’ house closed to the seashore, when he works outside.
His parents’ house was gone and nothing left at all. He lives at an apartment, separated from the house, so he saved his life. His children were on the way home after school, so they survived, too. Continue reading
